Father John Diamantis, Rector

I was raised in northeastern Pennsylvania, and in my youth attended a variety of Christian Churches before realizing that I was baptized as an Orthodox Christian in infancy.  From that point, I attended services at Holy Cross church in the Greek Archdiocese, which was my first spiritual home and through which I met my spiritual father, Theodore Petrides.  Soon after, I attended Penn State University studying psychology.  During my studies, I was blessed to attend Holy Trinity church in the OCA, to meet and be molded by Fr. John Reeves (of blessed memory) and to be part of a dynamic community of faithful parishioners and other college students through the Orthodox Christian Fellowship (campus ministry) there.  Having been involved directly with the ministry as a member and President, and with a zeal to learn more about the faith imparted to me, I soon after attended St. Tikhon's Seminary from which I graduated with my Master's of Divinity.  I met my soon to be wife, Matushka/Presbytera Andrea, who was residing in New York, and so I moved to be with her.  In the course of all this, I was ordained to be a deacon, in which capacity I served for two-and-a-half years under Archbishop MICHAEL, who had also been the Dean of St. Tikhon's and a professor of mine.  During that time, I labored in the field of college ministry throughout New York and New Jersey and became the Diocesan Director for this with his blessing.  In this capacity, I partnered with the national OCF, various regional and local leaders, and other interested parties to plant, develop, and oversee active OCF chapters, which, by the time I finished, totaled more than two dozen throughout New York and New Jersey.  I helped to organize conferences and was a keynote speaker for several.  In addition, being in New York provided ample opportunity to engage in ministry with the homeless and underprivileged, leading Mat. Andrea and me to attend church and services with the community of Holy Trinity in East Meadow, NY, where my skills were fine-tuned by Fr. Martin Kraus and at which I was ordained to be a priest.  2012 was full of blessings.  I was ordained to the priesthood, our son Stavros was born, and I was the acting rector of my first parish, then soon thereafter, a second. Through a series of events, I returned to earn my Master's degree in social work with a dual focus in Organizational Management & Leadership and Mental Health, from which I graduated with Honors.  Our family relocated to Virginia in 2019, since which time we have been truly blessed to be integrated into the life of the parish family here at Dormition of the Theotokos.  I am a priest, husband, father, licensed clinical social worker, passionate about sharing the good news of the risen Christ.  I'm here for you (especially if you want to play some table soccer!).

Protodeacon Lasha Tchantouridze

Protodeacon Lasha was born in the Republic of Georgia. He received theological education at St. Arseny Institute in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He was ordained in the holy diaconate in 2006. Before coming to Virginia, he served in parishes in Winnipeg and Narol -- both in Manitoba, Canada, and Northfield and Springfield -- both in Vermont. He was awarded the honor of protodeacon's vestments in 2011. Fr. Lasha has a doctoral degree in politics. He is married with three children.
